Fractal Cylinders

Closed curves defined by a fractal-subdivision process smoothly morph as they move from left to right. The result is a shape that is fractal and jagged in cross-sections, but smooth along its length.

Two high-resolution, large-scale pictures in this series are hanging as permanent pieces in the Yale Science Building and the Halene Laboratory.
